How to edit an open order
Tables order more drinks. Customers change their mind on a side. The bill needs to be split. Editing an open order in HotelBee is the same screen as taking the order — pick it up, make the change, save again.
Step 1 — Resume the order
On the POS screen, open the Open Orders drawer (the icon with a number badge showing how many tabs are open). Tap the order you want to edit. The POS loads with all its current items, the assigned table, the customer/room, the note, the discount, and the courses if any.

Step 2 — Make your changes
Anything on the original order is editable from the same screen:
- Add items — tap products as you would on a fresh order. The new items append to the bottom of the order panel.
- Change quantity — use the + / − controls on each line item. Drop quantity to zero to remove the line entirely.
- Remove items — × on a line removes it. Permission gates this — waiters typically can't remove without a manager override (configurable per role under Orders → Correct).
- Per-item note — long-press a line to add an instruction ("medium rare", "no ice", "to share"). Notes appear on the kitchen ticket.
- Change the table — tap the table icon and pick a different one. Useful when guests move to a bigger or quieter table mid-meal.
- Add or change the customer/room — tap the room icon to attach the order to a hotel guest's reservation, or to swap it for a different room/guest.
- Order-level note — edit the whole-order note (kitchen instructions, special occasion, etc.).
- Discount — apply or update a discount on the order total. Permission-gated as on a new order.
- Number of persons — adjust if a person leaves the table or others arrive.

Override the price on a line
If the user role has the Change price in sell permission, you can edit the price of an individual line — long-press the line and type the new price. Use this for ad-hoc adjustments (a comp drink, an off-menu item) rather than as a substitute for happy hour or product pricing.
Step 3 — Save the changes
Tap Save. HotelBee writes the new state, prints a kitchen ticket for any newly added items (existing items don't reprint to avoid double-cooking), and updates the running total. The order stays in the open orders drawer until you charge it.
What permission controls
Editing power scales with role:
- Waiter — add items, change quantity to a higher number, change the table. Cannot remove items or override the price unless their role has those flags. Cannot edit orders from a previous shift.
- Cashier / Manager — full edit, including remove items and price overrides.
- Admin — additionally can edit a finalized (paid) order. Triggers re-fiscalization.
See the change history
From the order view (in the orders list, not the live POS), click Timeline to see every edit — what was added, removed, repriced, who did it, and when. Useful when guests dispute a charge or for end-of-shift reviews.
