Feature · Handheld POS

The order never leaves the guest.

A waiter ordering app on the phone the team already owns. Take the order at the table, fire to the right kitchen or bar station instantly, charge to room or card, without walking back to a terminal. Works on the cabana, on the rooftop, in the basement wine cellar.

Why teams switch

Three things that change a service.

  • Order to fire in seconds

Tap the items at the table; the kitchen display flashes them up before the waiter has put their phone away. No paper docket, no terminal queue, no "did the order go through?".

  • Offline by default

The app caches the menu, the prices and any in-flight orders. When the wifi drops on the rooftop or the beach, service does not. Sync resumes automatically when signal returns.

  • On the phone they already have

PWA, works on iPhone, Android, the cheap handsets you keep in the dock. No app store install, no MDM rollout, no "I left it at home today."

How it works

Four taps, one walk.

No mode switches, no terminal trips, no manual room lookup. The waiter spends the service at the table, not behind a screen.

  1. 01

    Pick the table

The handheld shows the floor plan from the table reservations system. Tap the table, see the cover count, the booking name, any pre-orders or dietary notes.

  2. 02

    Take the order

Touch-friendly menu, modifier groups, course routing, allergens flagged inline. Add items by category or by quick-search, with photos to confirm with the guest at the table.

  3. 03

    Fire to the right station

Cold starters to garde-manger, mains to grill, drinks to bar, every line goes to its station's kitchen display screen with the right course timing.

  4. 04

    Settle without moving

Charge to room (hotel guests pre-fill from the PMS), tap to pay (Apple Pay / Google Pay), split bill, share QR for guest self-pay, all from the same screen the order was taken on.

Capabilities

Built for the service the team actually runs.

  • Live kitchen display routing

Items route to the right station automatically (cold pass, grill, fry, bar, dessert). Course timing handled inline, courses fire when the previous course is bumped, not when the waiter remembers.

  • Charge to room or tap to pay

Hotel guests pre-fill from the PMS profile and charge to room in one tap. Walk-ins use the built-in card reader, Apple Pay, Google Pay or scan-to-pay QR. No external payment terminal required.

  • Modifiers, courses, allergens

Modifier groups (rare/medium/well, dressing on the side, no garlic), course numbering, allergen flags, hidden 86'd items. The complexity stays in the data, not in the waiter's head.

  • Offline-first sync

Local queue when signal drops; auto-sync when it returns. No service stops because the wifi flickers on the rooftop or the cabana.

  • Voice search and shortcuts

Long menu? Voice-search for the item, or use saved shortcuts ("the usual" per regular guest). The team learns the menu faster than they learn a new POS.

  • Multi-language interface

The waiter sees the menu in their preferred language; the kitchen display shows the kitchen language. Guests get a translated bill on the QR check view.

  • Haptic feedback for fires

A short buzz when an order is accepted, a different buzz when the kitchen bumps a ready item, the waiter knows something changed without unlocking the phone.

  • Beach and pool ready

Sunbed and cabana ordering with location auto-attached, water-resistant device support, and a "wet hand" mode with bigger tap targets.

  • Per-waiter sales view

Live cover count, average bill, sales-per-hour and tip share by waiter. Performance feedback the team can see, not a spreadsheet the GM emails on Monday.

Common questions

What teams always ask before rolling this out.

  • No. Any modern Android or iOS device works, including the staff's personal phones if you allow that, or cheap handsets you provision yourself. We support water-resistant rugged Androids for poolside and outdoor F&B.
